I have had a user that had wanted this changed and everytime I changed it and closed the window and reopened it.....back to the way it was even though I had saved the settings...found your glorious tip here....I am so glad there are people like you that don't mind sharing your knowledge with the rest of us computer savvy wanna b's.........

1. You can extract the icons from Vista files like imageres.dll, etc and then apply them using Tuneup utilities.

2. No. You can't get them without 3rd party software like Styler.

3. Logon Studio doesnt create perfect logon screens for XP. You'll need to manually edit "logonui.exe" file and replace bitmaps and code.

4. Not possible.

5. I didnt understand. Which Taskbar icons are you talking about?

I'm a fan of you. your work is amazing. you have good taste and the most important: you know how to play with the code; and thanks to this website now I value more the aesthetic/interface issue; I was never interested about it but some events changed my point of view. I knew of you from DevianArt thanks to a friend who uses your black vista theme. (read my profile in deviantArt: memonio77)

I have some questions for you: (if you have time and don't mind of course!)

1- I run Win XP Pro sp3. I would like to change ALL the XP icons for the vista icons without using Stardock IconPackager. I would like to do it through TuneUp Utilities (it's installed). There are other applications that I can uninstall later without modifying ALL the icons/package installed. What do you suggest?

2- About Win Explorer: I would like to get the Vista look "go and back buttons" with the search field on top, but bellow I would like to get to XP buttons such as: Up, Folders, Refresh, Stop, Delete, Undo, Copy, Cut, Paste, View and Properties. So, is it possible without "crumb-bread" and Stlyler, or QQT Bar? or can I do it uninstalling the application but leaving Win Explorer as I wish? what is your advise?

3- Why when I'm making a new Logon with LogonStudio after I load it then it appears with a broken image and white areas? what am I doing wrong?

4- I would like to set the "Common Tasks in left side" only for my PC, but not for My documents, pictures, music and so on. how I must modify the registry?

5- How I change the taskbar XP icons for Vista icons?

While we are on the topic of folder views...are you able to figure out how to hold a given "View" selection in the Folder View Options? I prefer the Details view...

Tools > Folder Options > View > "Details"

BUT after months of research and an equal amt of time trying to adjust the registry...it has all been for naught...
