NOTE: Please note down the default values before changing them, so that you can restore them if something goes wrong or you don't like the output.
All digital TVs contain a secret service code which allows you to change some internal settings like picture height, width, position, colors, etc. Basically this service menu is used by TV mechanics.
Here we are sharing service codes for LG and Sony TVs.
For Sony TV:
First power off your TV using remote, then Press <Display> + 5 + Vol Up + Power button simultaneously on remote.

Now you can make desired changes to the settings.
To save the changes, just press Mute + 0.
For LG TV:
Press and Hold <OK> button on remote as well as TV panel at the same time for a few seconds.

For some TV models, you'll need to press "Menu" button on remote and TV panel simultaneously for a few seconds.
Now you can make desired changes to the settings.
To save the changes press <OK> in Remote.
PS: Be very careful while playing with the service menu. First make changes but don't apply them. If something goes wrong, just switch off the TV and switch on it again.

I had tried multiple tricks provided in various blogs and websites such as this..
I have an LG LCD TV - 22LK311 (I'm from Indonesia btw, country of birth of this particular type of LCD tvs as well as other models.. you can tell me later when you check the back of tv panels of various brands esp Samsung and LG's), of which I understand (from my standing point) is an improved version of LK310 series, or feature-downgraded versions of LD 350,450,460 or even LK330 series..
It has a DiVx decoder which only render Avi. format movies , JPG and mp3s... I've tried several other version of mp4s such as mp4, mkv, 3gp, divx, flv, etc to no avail, still no responses..
Anyone had any hands-on-experience on upgrading this particular serie? I have downloaded other model (intended for LD , LH and LF) firmware upgrades since there's no official release on LK series upgrade and since go ahead w/ experiments anyways..
so far I only discovered that pressing the menu(home) and ok button tricks not working..(perhaps I'm impatient in some sorts? cos I waited to almost a minute... but no feedback)
But the home, press+hold for approx 30 sec (on the remote alone) until the icon ( tv ch and info) flashes,
enter the code (either one of these: 1105 or 0000) + OK , it enters installation menu which unveils Hotel modes and such.. It shows Inst menu (V 2.0) and firmware V 3.06...
Then, I went on further.. investigated on my own.. still highlighted menu on SETUP, press number 7 (7 x), it enters into upgrading software (installation menu, and firmware) * on the tutorials. it should be fav button.. but anyways I found it! back door (alternative) approach.. It shows Installation menu version as 1.1 and firmware 3.06.. it has menu to upgrade both...
now..
what bugs me is that..
I have already downloaded epk files ( which supposedly contains all the upgrade materials) but it failed to recognise these..( I have already created LG_DTV folder and pertaining upgrade inside it)
Perhaps I'm missing something here?
I'm not a computer savvy, not an advance user/ programmer of IT and such.. (should the USB stick be completely clear of any other data except from LG_DTV? cos I didn't delete those movies and mp3s and pictures which were already in the stick...)
Just another curious and inexperienced bystander whom decided to give it a try..
Should I further recompile;extract and expand or such ( to my understanding on various forums ) build my own SDL, etc, etc. but then again.. I'm just another inexperienced novice and doesn't have the softwares and/or skills to do that..
I would like to try the alternative In-start, In-stop ,etc alternatives so long as I could get my unit to recognise a HD format media.. Is it attainable?? However, I don't have fancy programmable IR remotes of specific brands as listed or nokia phones w/ IR ports ( I had one but sold it longgggg time ago.. now I have only a modest C3), nor BBs or Iphones ... All I have in hand just two modest universal remote ( multi media: tv, dvd, vcd, sat, etc), which I bought to replace a broken Hitachi normal-CRT tube flatscreen, fasttext and nicam telie..( I found out by accident to access a hidden admin menu on one of the remote!!)
They are Chunghop (Chinese brand) and SEA-C Palapa 1 (local brand-Indonesia)
Help??
anyone?
Walk me through all these?
Many thanks in advance..!!
PS: I have no knowledge of Linux or other programming languages
but I can operate a windows software provided w/ details or walkthroughs..
I haven't tried the RS-232 alt.. cos it's a bit scary..Hehehe.. :D
Bottomline.. I don't wish to brick my set just wanted it to read and display mkv and other HD format medias...
Thanks for replying..

Oh... One more thing.. Should I want to revert to original settings after an uneventful crash or slowdown.. can I do it conveniently by remote access to menu? Or from backups..
Either ways.. any easy way to back it up from USB port alone and commanding it w/ just supplied IR remote (+custom IR remote)?
Thanks...
