Yahoo! Messenger shows a lots of ads in main window, chat window, etc, which don't look good. So here is a patch which can remove all these ads:
Download Yahoo! Messenger Ad Remover
Just download it, copy it to "%ProgramFiles%\Yahoo!\Messenger" and run it.

Hi Dave, I have messenger 8.1.0.421 and before i got your first reply i took that file out of there and moved it in case i needed to put it back. I haven't edited anything yet. And with that file completely removed from this version of messenger i have no adds in the bottom of the main window, even if i do a restart. It just says action canceled. Is that a problem or should i do it your way? See i wanted the newer messenger but had problems of it not letting me use launchcast and letting me choose any station. It limited it me so i removed the newer one. And went back to this version. Thanks

Well, I prefer version 8.1.0.421. I think version 9 is a bit overdone - stick a fork in it. Send me your e-mail address (dedndave@yahoo.com is mine). I will send you the files you need to patch that version. I will have some time later this evening, so I can even write a batch program to do most of the work for you. - Dave

P.S. If it is done correctly, version 8.1.0.421 has no ad box in the main Messenger window.
By use of a little trickery, I even managed to get rid of the skin overdraw problem with that version.

I am looking for the full installer for version 7.0.0.247 (7.86 MB). Filehippo only has the download installer. I have tried FreeCreed and OldApps, as well as talking to John Kirschner, and searching the web. I did manage to find it on a Russian site, but the file is corrupted, and my Russian is terrible - no way to let them know to fix it. I know this is a really old version, but I want to try and write a multi patch for it (after I get finished with the ver 8/9 updates). - ThanX - dedndave

i did update the read me file also
you may want to download the patch again and read it
if all else fails, you may d/l the already patched exe file (link in the new read me)
