While browsing on Internet, we log into various websites several times a day to check emails, to chat with friends, etc. It doesn't matter whether you are using Windows PC, Mac or a mobile phone, you always need to enter credentials to log into websites. Entering same usernames and passwords frequently can be a big pain while using a touch smart phone.
To make your life easier we are going to share a free password manager software in this topic. This password manager software has been developed by Norton which is a well known brand in antivirus field.
"Norton Identity Safe" is a new password manager tool from Norton which helps you in storing and remembering your usernames and passwords for websites. It also helps you in auto-filling the credentials whenever required.
After using this password manager, you'll never forget your passwords again and you'll not need to fill the same details such as name, address, phone number, etc again and again in those annoying web forms.
Norton Identity Safe stores your credentials in a secure cloud-based vault which is only accessible to you. It also warns you of unsafe websites when you try to access them using a web search or direct links. It automatically blocks them so that those websites can't install virus/spyware in your computer system.
Norton Identity Safe can also synchronize your passwords across different computers, web browsers and mobile phones so you'll always have your credentials with you whether you are using your PC, mac or mobile phone.

Features List:
- Stores infinite number of passwords
- Enables one click logins and automatic form entries
- Tells you if your passwords are weak
- Warns you of unsafe sites
- Enables access from multiple devices
- Removes hassle of remembering passwords
It can be installed in Microsoft Windows, Mac, iOS (iPhone and iPad) and Google Android mobile phones. Almost all popular web browsers such as Mozilla Firefox, Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, Opera and Safari are supported.
If you download it before October 01, 2012, you'll be able to use it absolutely free forever.

I used to use the "Norton Password Manager" a few years ago until they drop the product. The last couple of years I have used Roboform.
Do you have any insight to how they compare?
actionOFdying
do not support Win7......... mind it .....
Kwame
i use Lastpass. It's very useful and free too....
Arjen
How does it compare to Lastpass?
Shanmukh
Is it a memory hogger like all other norton products ?
VG
Guys
Since its new, we should not compare it with other well-known similar software but its worth a try.
@Shanmukh
Not at all.
@actionOFdying
It does.

* You're advocating handing control of all your passwords to Norton ?
- So you no longer need to keep your own record of passwords because a third party is entrusted to do it for you ? Oh you SHOULD keep your own Master Record (a thing called a backup?) - then why use a password manager ? Aren't we each our own thinking, password managers ?
* Why the intriguing October 1st cut off date to get it free for life? What happens after that date ?
* Has nobody read the number of high profile cases of hundreds of millions of client (errrrrrr that's YOU - irrespective of whether you paid or not) passwords that have been stolen from high profile market leader secure storage sites ??????? Sony anyone ? And I should be dumbed down into entrusting my account access keys to the 'CLOUDS' because I am incapable of securely storing my passwords etc off my computer, myself?
- Do you imagine that Norton store this data on their own servers on their own sites ? Or do they rent space on a third party data farm and trust THEIR integrity. Blackberry / Microsoft 2009 & 2011 ?
- Given the Patriot Act and how American companies (irrespective of where they are geographically located) must divulge data (such as passwords) to almost any government department that asks for it (and are forbidden to alert the owner of the password as to the fact it is being handed over) AND THE ENCRYPTION KEY or logarithm to decrypt it ............... you are seriously advocating the use of third party password managers in the clouds ?????????? REALLY !!!!!!!! ??????????

thnx VG. looks great. :)

I am currently using another password manager but I will give it a try. Thanks VG :)

A Merlin - Wow, I thought I was the only person out there that thinks the same way. I'm not alone after all!! I wouldn't use this even though it's "free" just because it's put out by Norton.

I may not use the password manager because of Merlin's comments. But I wonder if the safe web component can be used with Google Chrome and simply not enable the password component? Also, I'm fairly sure that the password manager is an OEM of some other company (LastPass or something else) but does anyone know which company? Kaspersky has a similar feature with their internet security suite but they use Sticky Password.

"Almost all popular web browsers such as Mozilla Firefox, Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, Opera and Safari are supported."
Actually this is incorrect. Not you fault - all bloggers who blogged about it have written the same; because it's there on the product's download page. But installing reveals something else - it's not available for Opera; didn't test with Chrome and Safari, only for IE & FF. Seeing this, I contacted Norton Chat support and the representative answered that a Beta version for Opera (and some other browsers) was expected to be released within 3-4 months.

^^ Thanks for the input. I checked it in Firefox and IE and it worked fine. :)
