I work on the Firefox development team, and we love to have people using our pre release builds. The wording of this announcement could have been better, but it is correct. This was a candidate for the release build, which is now release in final from http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-beta.html.

Which is not what the title on this article says.

Non techies should not be using it, until Mozilla have signed off on it. It only increases their workload, people prematurely announcing stuff like this - just give them the chance to release it properly.

Of course it's not confidential - it's an open source project.

^^ Its not confidential. Actually they release these builds for testing and once testing is completed, they release it officially. Thats why its first build of beta2.

Don't think this is the 'final' b2. It is the version handed over to QA. I saw a date of 12/5 as the QA signoff date.
