Dear Tyler,

I had no idea that the version of Firefox that shipped with OpenSuse was not an official build. Luckily, I am going to reinstall my Linux partition. That way I can start from scratch, and meticulously go through and download all my programs directly from their respective developers. I have always tried to download programs this way, but took it on faith that when I installed a linux distro, the programs would have also been packaged on the install disc in the same manner.
I thank you for taking the time to open my eyes to my complacency and although it might be easier to just use the version that installs from the disc, I now know that might not be the best way to go about it. :D
thanks a bunch
Ron.

You are installing Firefox by downloading from http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all.html, right? That is the official build. Other builds, like Opensuse, have a lot of known issues, and not as many features (like crash reporting), that the official build has.

Hey Tyler,

I used a fresh install of OpenSuse 11.1. I also did a fresh install of Firefox. I now might be missing vital plug ins and such, but I am unsure. I have not been on it since last I posted here. :D

As soon as I updated, I noticed an immense increase in response time and speed. There were no lags or snagging on images, and I am extremely happy with my Firefox for what seems like the first time. Now if I could just get my Linux version Firefox to run as smoothly, I will not know what to do with myself. :D

That did not happen in 3.0.7. 3.0.7 was only a security and stability release. Version 3 has that as a new feature since 3.0.0.
