Microsoft has released the much awaited Service Pack 1 RTM version of Visual Studio 2010 to public.
Visual Studio 2010 Service Pack 1 is now ready for download. Service Pack 1 comes with a "go live" license which means you can start using the product for production related work.
Service Pack 1 (SP1) focuses on improving the developer experience by addressing some of the most requested features like better help support, IntelliTrace support for 64bit and SharePoint, and including Silverlight 4 Tools in the box.

Some of the additional highlights are:
Help Viewer - The new local Help Viewer is a simple client application that re-introduces key productivity features including a fully-expandable table of contents and a keyword index.
Better platform support - Silverlight 4 Tools for Visual Studio 2010 (with a few updates to RIA Services) is now included in the box along with Silverlight 3 support. Other changes include some additional Win7-specific MFC APIs to support use of Direct2D, DirectWrite, and Windows Animation Technologies.

Does this service pack fix the fact that Visual Studio gets more bloated and complex and less usable with every new release? :-(
Remember when they kept saying that "10 is the new 6," meaning that VS2010 would feature the return of many of the things that made VS6 so nice to use (especially for C++ developers)? Sure would like to see some evidence of that, because the only thing I can see that VS2010 is good for is forcing you to upgrade you computer so you can actually use it.
