Today Microsoft posted a new demo video showing native Explorer support for mounting ISO and VHD files in Windows 8:
Microsoft Details Native Explorer Support for Mounting ISO and VHD Files in Windows 8
Many people including our readers "sandeep" and "nipunb" noticed a new metro style start menu in Windows 8 as shown in following screenshot:

So did Microsoft accidentally leak the new start menu? Are they working on a new start menu in Windows 8?
Sorry to say but not really! Actually its not a new start menu. Its a part of newly introduced Start Screen which was shown by Microsoft in first Windows 8 official video:
Microsoft Shows Windows 8 Preview
If you see the video carefully, you'll notice a similar thing in the video as shown in following screenshot:

Both menus have similar items: Settings, Share, Search, Start. Connect item has been renamed to Devices.
Now there are 2 possibilities:
- Either Microsoft has redesigned Start Screen a bit and the side panel has been resized and moved to bottom-left
- Microsoft has provided the ability to users to move the side-panel to anywhere on the screen
Either any of the above possibilities is true but one thing is clear its not a new start menu!

VG, as I can see in the latest Windows 8 preview video, the taskbar is not showing the UserTile anymore. Is the Windows Team in Microsoft creating an option to enable/disable the usertile or it will be disabled forever?
Thanks
Kyle
cool!
new metro start menu looks a bit... weird and ugly... idk

@Yvidhiatama
Yes. There is an option to enable/disable userpic in System Tray.

I see, they're just failing at styling.
In the upper picture, "start" looks like a button that calls up the other four items.
In the lower picture, you can see that it's really one of five "equal" items.

Hey VG!
Remember the new start ORB I spotted? I think now it make more sense. I think the new start ORB is only for this menu and the classic ORB is going to be used for the desktop start menu. Because if you look closely, all Windows 8 videos have the classic ORB while the guys at Microsoft show a demo. But out of a sudden the new start ORB appears in this video...Maybe they have a quick access menu which temporarily replaces the Start menu when open Desktop Applications from the start screen. This would allow the Classic application to work smoothly with the new MetroUI. When the desktop is open and no classic applications are running (i.e. you manually close all of them), maybe you get the full start menu!
I still can't wait for the public beta!
