Okay, I don't know what I did wrong, but this utility did it right: Windows 7 Task Pane Changer
My bitmaps where okay, since they appear correctly on my screen now. May have had something to do with x64 compatability? I remember my previous (succeeded try) was in x32.
Meh. Doesn't matter now.
Still, thanks for your help! :)

^^ Most probably the BITMAP format was not compatible. I cant remember but the BITMAP should be converted in a compatible format to use in system files.

Hey, I edited my shell32.dll file in the past (the 632 & 633 thingy for the left controlpanel-panel): Succesfull!

Now I tried it again (due to a new Windows installation), but it keeps failing. The left panel just dissapeared :(
I extracted the bitmaps from 632 & 633, edited them in Photoshop (saved as .bmp 32bit), and replaced the resource with reshacker. The left panel doesn't even show up now! Everything is placed at the left (where the panel should be).
Luckily whe have sfc /scannow...

Any idea on what I'm doing wrong?

Hi VG,

Thanks for your great site, tutorials, themes etc etc :-)

Could you tell me or point me in the direction of a guide to customize the bottom details task pane at the bottom of windows 7 explorer windows.

I know it can be moved to the top but i don't want to do that. I want to change the colour and insert my own custom image in there.

Thanks :-)

Uhmmm, how about the taskbar? Where do I find that? I've been looking through the MSStyle and the .theme. . . . And out of those 1k+ bitmaps, I couldn't tell which was the taskbar. . .

I would add that replacing the background images in imageres.dll not always possible/works the best.
Simply go to %windir%\system32\oobe\info\backgrounds and change your defult bg, it'll work immeditately.
cheers
