After clicking on "run as administrator" and typing in slmgr -rearm, I get the following message:

slmgr not recognized as internal or external command, operable program or batch file. Ever run across that before?

If so, what's the fix for that?

Thanks in advance,

^^ The method only works before the expiration of Windows activation. Since you waited for the expiry, its not working.

Regarding reduced mode, check the expiry date in "winver". It might give some idea.

^^

Well, here's sort of a timeline of what I can recall:

I installed Windows 7 RTM on my desktop computer sometime in march or april. I thought my company had given me a product key, though it was only for upgrades from Vista.

I think it's Windows 7 Professional or Ultimate.

The slmgr -rearm thing worked perfectly 3 times. Then on the fourth month, I got lazy and waited until the wallpaper blackened while I was playing some good old fullscreen stuff. It told me "This isn't genuine, go get a key" or something like that.

Anyways, I immediately tried it. It said it wasn't allowed or whatever Windows security message. So I did the reg edit and tried it again. It said it worked, though at login the same thing happened, and the reg edit had been undone.

Thus far, I haven't really notice any reason to validate other than the nag screen at login, opening certain applications like Wordpad (which still work) and a black wallpaper for 10 seconds until the wallpaper slideshow brings up a real wallpaper.

Is this everything there is to "Reduced Functionality Mode" then?

Anyways, thanks for the tutorial.

^^ Doesn't "slmgr -rearm" command work more tahn 3 times for you after using this registry method?

PS: If you leave it inactivated, you'll not be able to use Windows unless you activate it.
