If you have a dual boot system with Windows Vista and another Windows version like Windows XP, 2000, etc and now you want to completely remove Windows Vista from your system, then this tutorial will help you.
1. Boot into other Windows version. Suppose you have Windows XP installed along with Windows Vista, then boot into Windows XP.
2. Insert your Windows Vista Setup DVD in your DVD drive. Click on "Start button -> All Programs -> Accessories". Right-click on "Command Prompt" and select "Run As Administrator". If you are prompted to enter password, enter the password and continue. You can also open Command Prompt in Administrator mode by typing "cmd" in Startmenu Search box and press "Ctrl+Shift+Enter".
3. Now provide following command:
[DVD_drive_letter]:\boot\bootsect.exe /nt52 ALL /force
and then press Enter. Suppose your DVD drive letter is F:, then provide following command:
F:\boot\bootsect.exe /nt52 ALL /force
4. Eject the Setup DVD and restart the system. Now your system will start in Windows XP automatically.
5. Now you can safely delete Windows Vista folders to reclaim the disk space:
Program Files
Users
Windows
You can format the whole partition too if its not the boot partition. e.g. if your Windows Vista was installed on a partition other than C:, then you can safely format that partition but if it was installed on C: drive, then don't format it. Just manually delete the above mentioned folders.

Arre sir, you did not get what I asked

I meant to say that I lost my Win 7 DVD, so I cant run the command you have posted to force-fix the bootloader.
I have already formatted the Win7 partition. And I'm now only having XP on my machine.
But (As I expected) Win7 bootloader has not been removed.
What should I do?
regards.

^^ If you have XP setup CD, then Boot using it and enter into "Recovery Console" by pressing "R". Now Log into windows installation and enter admin password. Now give following commands at prompt:
fixmbr
It should work.

Hi.

I did a bit of googling, found that I'm supposed to "fixboot" after running "fixmbr".
Did that, and problem is solved
Thanks for the help anyways

^^ I thought "fixboot" would not be required. Otherwise these commands have been mentioned in solution of Points 9 and 10 in "FAQ" topic mentioned at top:

^^ You can use any 3rd party partition software like Partition Magic to create a new partition after taking space from an existing partition.

I have two versions of Vista currently on my computer, and I need to delete the newest one that should not have been installed. I've tried disabling the boot menu, but both still return when I restart the computer. How do I uninstall one of these two since I don't have hard disk space to keep both?
VG
^^ You can disable the startup boot loader by going to System Properties -> Advanced tab -> Startup & Recovery section -> Settings and then uncheck ""Time to display list of OS" option.
Once you disable boot loader, you can safely format the partition which contains new Vista. Make sure its not installed on C: drive otherwise you'll not be able to boot.
