NOTE: A few people have faced booting problem after applying this tweak. So please use it at your own risk. It worked fine at our end.

Windows Vista shows a nice ORB animation aka Pearl animation just before the Welcome screen. It looks like following image:

Microsoft removed this animation from Windows 7 as it takes a few seconds to show the animation.
If you are using Windows Vista and want to remove the startup ORB animation, this article will help you.
The ORB animation is shown using a system file "authui.dll" which is present in "%windir%\System32" folder. This file contains all resources needed for the animation.
"PacMani" @ DA has patched "authui.dll" file to remove the animation. You just need to download following ZIP file, extract it and run "Patch System Files.bat" file.
It'll replace the existing "authui.dll" file with a patched one and you'll no longer see the ORB animation just like Windows 7.
If you want to restore the animation in future, simply run "Restore System Files.bat" file.
PS: It only works for Windows Vista 32-bit editions.

Hi VG, if it works or not, I don't know because I didn't try it.
But to say that it will be like W7 isn't true because W7 has its own animation before the welcome screen (that shining balls ending with windows logo). Am I right?
Anyway good post!

@Chad: use a system restore. try to rollback your system 3 days ago,,
Chad
I tried that but it says i don'y have a restore point. I'm using my mobile phone right now. Good thing our house is a WiFi Hotspot.
Chad
Sorry for the double post, but there was a typo. DON'T.
VG
^^ Thats really sad to know that you and a few other people are facing problem after applying this tweak. The solution to fix this problem would be System Restore. Since you don't have any restore point, you can boot using Vista setup DVD and repair the installation.
Chad
You mean reinstall vista? Or when the install now button appears then i will click "Repair Your Computer?", I tried that all, when i click install now, it says they can't find or there is a missing file etc... But when i click Repair You Computer, it goes back to the booting of the Hard Drive, so nothing happens... It'll again show the Black Screen of Death. It'll just show a cursor that is movable and that's it.
VG
^^ Click on Install now and then select the option to upgrade the existing installation. It'll restore all default files and will keep your data.
If it doesnt work, you can select "Repair computer" option and open Command Prompt and provide following command:
sfc /scannow
The last way would be, attach your hard drive to any other computer and manually replace "authui.dll" file with default one.

What i did was i brought my computer to the mall, made then fix it. Lost my files though.
