Same problem here. The enable/disable buttons are greyed out on every program listed.

The 'enable' and 'disable' buttons seem to be functioning at all, I have followed the necessary steps , restarted my computer, and yet faces the same problem. My various media players just stopped working as when I tried playing some videos, it would said that the media player stopped working and have to close. However, when I tried playing it on my friend's computer, it was perfectly fine. By the way, my computer was reformatted recently, so this problems never occurred to me when I first bought it 6 months ago.

schedule the program to run at startup with the windows scheduler and it will stop causing you grief.

that's the manual method of allowing an app everytime you boot into vista. but there has to be an auto allow feature somewhere inside the os else the very purpose of an app to start automatically fails. i've developed a folder security app which runs at boot. my xp version works fine. but when i ported it to vista it worked fine except the autostart problem. so my folders aren't exactly protected unless and until i allow the app to run from windows defender. disabling the defender service doesn't stop it from interrupting the app. the app doesn't run at all! is there any workaround?

Yeah, but the problem with vista is that the enable/disbale buttons do not work for most of the stuff you wanna run but vista doesn't allow. Its a mighty flawed piece of software vista is.
