After a few tries and reboots and still having the uninstalled icons there, thank you Sam for your suggestion! I removed the entries, closed regedit, opened Task Manager, killed explorer.exe, ran explorer.exe from inside the manager, restarted... no more unwanted icons!! I had to redo my notification preferences but it was worth it! Thanks! (Running Windows 7, 64 bit)

If you found that useful - the above fix - and you've looked at other tech forums without success, perhaps in a community spirit kind of way share the fix at one or two other forums to help others out - Thanks!

It works, BUT... as far as i can tell, it only clears the ICONS, doesn't clear the item from the actual list.

I had a game a while back that was uninstalled - the icon was gone after doing this, but the notification options stayed.

-- so how do I remove the other stuff? Because even after this, I still have the options in the list to turn notifications on or off for the program.

I even found where these were located in the registry when I searched for them. Deleted them, and still nothing.

P.S. > running Windows 7 (x64)

Here, I've read from another forum that after you have removed the 2 binary values, you should go to task manager and end the explorer.exe process.. after that go to File, run explorer and then Reboot! My uninstalled program icons are now gone. :)

hope that helps. :)
