TBarIconBlanker: Remove Program Icons from Windows Titlebar and Taskbar Buttons

Today we are going to share a very small utility which can hide program icons from program windows and Taskbar buttons. Why to use it? Actually lots of people like minimal look and as you can see Microsoft removed icons from Explorer toolbar to make it minimal, the same thing applies for Taskbar buttons.

As you can see in above screenshot, the program icon is not visible in window titlebar as well as in Taskbar button.

This utility works in Windows XP and later Windows versions. But in Windows Vista and later, it only hides titlebar icon, Taskbar button icon remains visible.

Simply run the EXE file and enjoy the minimal look.

To get the icons back, open Task Manager (by right-clicking on Taskbar and select “Task Manager” or by pressing “Ctrl+Shift+Esc” keys together) and End Task of “TBarIconBlanker.exe“.

You can add its shortcut to “Startup” folder in All Programs menu to start it automatically with Windows.

  1. it hides just the windows app icons doesnt work on costumize icons lie for example “winamp” (i’m runing windows 7 ultimate x64)

  2. It would be nice if the title text could be realigned, too…looks weird to have the empty space where the icon used to be but the text is indented over

  3. This does not work on Windows 7 for me. I tried running the file as an admin, did not help. Any suggestions by chance?

  4. As the description says.. for win 7 and vista the taskbar icons remains visible, I just wanted to hide title icons anyways, works fine with regular taskbar icons size, however… on windows 8.1 (probably vista and win 7 as well) the taskbar icons gets all buggy(replaced/blanked randomly) when you set to ‘Use small taskbar buttons’. I really wish I could just blank title icons and have my taskbar untouched… I really don’t like the fat taskbar.

Please Skwire, add optional showing/hiding of titlebar Icons, and Taskbar Icons separately.
