If you enable "Navigation Pane" in Windows 7 Explorer, it shows following 5 items in the pane:
- Favorites
- Libraries
- Homegroup
- Computer
- Network
This tutorial will help you in removing "Network" item from the Navigation pane as shown in following screenshot:

Simply follow these simple steps:
1. Type regedit in RUN or startmenu search box and press Enter. It'll open Registry Editor.
2. Now go to following key:
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{F02C1A0D-BE21-4350-88B0-7367FC96EF3C}\ShellFolder
3. Now you'll need to change value of "Attributes" DWORD value present in the right-side section. But Windows will not allow you to change its value as you won't have proper permissions.
To get permissions, first right-click on "ShellFolder" key and select "Permissions".

It'll open a new window. Select "Administrators" in user list and check "Allow" box given for "Full Control" permission.

Click on OK button to apply the changes.
4. Now double-click on "Attributes" DWORD value given in right-side section and change its value to b0940064
5. That's it. Log off or restart your system and "Network" will no longer present in Explorer window.
NOTE: If you want to restore "Network" in Navigation pane, simply change value of "Attributes" DWORD to b0040064 using step 4.

This is great, thanks!
However, I've noticed it only removes the links from your standard Windows Explorer window. Other windows, such as a save window, or choose file window (for uploading, say, a picture to Facebook), still have the links. Is there a way to get rid of them there too? It may seem a bit anal, but honestly, it's those areas they bother me the most.
Note: There are 2 Upload file windows, 1 uses the navigation pane, the other just has giant icons on the left for Recent Places, Desktop, Libraries, Computer, and Network. I'm not sure about the Save window, but I imagine it does the same. Different programs/sites call different windows, not sure how it's even decided.
Really hoping Microsoft makes stuff like this more customizable in Windows 8 so we don't have to resort to hacks. I have at least 10 hacks I have to implement on a fresh install of Windows 7 just to get it to a state I'm comfortable using regularly, lol.

WHY? That is like someone asked "why you want to open the recycle bin from the run window ? "
BECAUSE there are many people like me-maniacs, or I don't know what-who don't have the Recycle Bin @ the desktop, actually - have NO constant icons at the desktop :D

VG:
Any input on my question above? Thanks.
VG
^^ Sorry about that. I couldn't find a way to modify those things. Regarding other browse dialog box, you can customize it using following tutorial:
