I tried to restore the hibernate option as per directions.But,it has not worked. Why? What else need to be done to get it back?

It works.....Thanks....it works .....if you using vista home basic and dell laptop, u will have to re-configure on battery option / power plan option.
i almost desperate bout this issue since i always using this hibernate option while i preparing meeting, faster to start up my laptop than using shut down option. sleep option as i known will harm your hard drive while traveling your laptop.
