^^ In 64-bit Windows versions, I think the file exists in "Windows\SysWOW64" folder.

I don't know what to do with it.I've tried everything.I didn't find any backup file and whenever I'm trying to rename the shell32.dll file its saying "you need permission" although I'm the administrator of the pc.I think there must be something wid the ownership.
Whenever I try to take the ownership some command window just fliks once but nothing happens.
plz tell me some other way to take the ownership other using than ResHack or any way to rename that file.
Does it work wid 32bit vista OS?!@#

^^ There is no other way. What problem are you facing while taking ownership?

^^ Try to save the file at some other location, then rename original "shell32.dll" file in "System32" folder to "shell32_backup.dll". Now copy new edited file to "System32" folder and restart your system. After restart Windows will start using your new file.

I follow the instructions word for word but it says. "Cannot rename original file. Saving canceled." There is no "_original" file.

Does it only work on x32 bit?

^^ Save the file somewhere else and then rename original shell32.dll file to some other name. At last copy your new modified file to "System32" folder and restart your system.

This is weird...

I did everything to edit shell32.dll with resource hack, but unfortunately, I can't save the file. When I press save after complying all the scripts on the dll, it said that it can't rename the original file. I'm not sure what to do right now. Do I have to save the modified file as a patched shell32.dll and overwrite it with the original one in System32? Last time I did that, I failed to do so because I was denied to overwrite System files in windows. I also tried renaming the original file to a .BAK file but that only caused my laptop to have an error after rebooting. Any ideas?
