I checked again every enteries i had in the context menu and disabled it one by one using shellexview software(its a great tool ^^).
I found that my antivirus was giving me problem. It was in the registry but it wasnt showing in the right click menu. I disabled it , restarted my computer and voila it worked
I uninstalled my antivirus and installed Microsoft Security Essentials now. im happy now

thanks for replying..
i checked enteries int he registry under contextmenuhandler, i dont see any 3rd party software entries there..
oh yeah it only shows classic style menu when I right click any folder or if I right click on computer - under start menu.
and for files it shows wpf enabled menu..
Is this normal in windows 7? not sure.. I checked under vista. it was showing wpf enabled menus for every object.

^^ Then there must be some other 3rd party software which is causing the same issue. Please check which software entries are shown in context menu.

Hi VG, I just installed windows 7 prof. and I dont have norton antivirus but still I have this context menu problem. I searched google for hrs but I didnt find anything..

For those who are using Norton 2009 version in Vista and XP, there is a fix released by Symantec to solve this problem. ( http://www.symantec.com/norton/support/kb/web_view.jsp?wv_type=public_web&docurl=20090324093557EN )

And for those who are using Windows 7 RC like me, there is a new beta build available which includes this fix. ( http://www.norton.com/win7 )

I noticed that was CIS explorer extension causing odd menus in Vista / 7. Found it in COMODO forums. Disabling the extension is the only solution for now.

I think the fact is that are many explorer extensions that cause this issue. And I think that it would be impossible to put here them all. Personally I don't know which are causing mine, I have 7zip, Winrar, CIS and Spybot extensions... Could be one of them.

Not a good solution to remove the antivirus....
However, have a solution to restore context menu for files ? If I rightclick a file the file manager ( whatever is - Explorer , Total Commander... ) freezes and show nothing. FOr Folders or Desktop everything goes fine...
