A few Windows Vista users have emailed us about a very strange problem. Whenever they try to rename a file or folder in Windows Explorer or on Desktop, Windows shows following error message:
Rename
The file of folder does not exist.
Following is a screenshot of this error message:

Actually this problem occurs when some registry keys get corrupted or deleted in Windows Registry.
If you are also facing this problem, you can fix this problem by just downloading following Zip file, extract it and then run the extracted .REG file:
It'll ask for confirmation, accept it.
Restart your system and your problem should be fixed.

I need help. I have the same problem where I can't rename a new folder, except I don't get an error message. Nothing happens, no change in the name and no error message. I have tried this fix and many others from different blogs, and none has worked.
Please help. I am running Vista 32 bit.
Thanks
VG
^^ Try to login as administrator and then rename the folder. Or take ownership of the folder and then try to rename.

I've spent days trying everything. i have downloaded every registry fix to no avail. I am running Vista 64 bit premium home edition. Oddly enough I only have this issue when i log in as the administrator. The other standard log-in profiles do not have this issue. HELP!!!
