Thanks for the information.

It enabled me to fix the problem.

FF& TB were installed in my C:\ and B:\ drives of my dual boot Vista/Win7 OS;
some how they were installed together.
I had to uninstall all of the entries.
I found all of them listed in Revoinstall and uninstalled all of them.

Then I was able to install the new V9.0 of both FF & TB.

And now both of hem are working perfectly!

Thanks again,

I have a related unsolvable problem!

I am using W7 and FF V3.6.24.
I cannot upgrade--- FF- it is STUCK on V3.6.24!

When I try to install V8.0 a pop up is displayed stating:
"Your computer must be restarted to complete a previous upgrade of Firefox.
Do you want to reboot now?"

If I reboot, version 3.6.24 loads; if I don't reboot 3.6.24 is retained.
The best I have done is getting V 8.0 to load temoprarily.
But as soon as I restart FF, V3.6.24 returns.

Does anyone have any idea how to get out of this endless cycle.

Thanks

I'm with Archy. The easiest way is to install the Add-on Compatibility Reporter which automatically disables the compatibility check and lets you report that an add on is working. Would love to know why thi s has yet to be added to the main article.
