Hello ,
In case you have already slected an option to open the file with n now you want to change it and the option is disabled follow the following steps

Open Regedit.exe
Navigate to the following subkey
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FileExts

Scroll down and find the file extension you are having problems with (for me it was .sln).

Expand it to view its sub keys.

Find a sub key called "UserChoice" and delete it.

Repeat steps 3 to 5 for each file extension causing you problems.

Issue should be resolved

NoFileAssociate disables assigning programs to file types at all, but I need just that it will be disabled initially but I could check it if I want.

Hello,

I have a problem on Windows 7:
I'm so stupid that I try to opening .rar file with explorer.exe (when clicked it spawns infinite explorer.exe in Processes tab,Task Manager) and when I'm going to change it back to "open with" Winrar Archiver, I can't check the "Always use the selected program to open this kind of file". What should I do?

hey man, hope the writer can answer me here

ive got a bit of a problem and i hoped you could help me out
i use windows 7
when i want to set a standard program for my .gif files, i right click and want to check the "Always use this program to open files of this type" square
but, its grayed out and i cant click it
everytime i open a .gif file, it asks me again, i can select a program, but it will only open it once
note this really only happens at .gif files, i can check and uncheck it at other file types normally
i think i messed up when i uninstalled a program i had set as standard program at that moment

ive got a feeling this can be fixed in the registry too, but i have no idea how
