Whenever you go into Full screen mode in Mozilla Firefox by pressing F11 key, the tab bar and toolbar go up with animation.
Some people might love it but others might want to disable it to launch Full screen mode faster.
In this tutorial, we'll tell you how to disable this animation:
1. Open Firefox and type about:config in the addressbar and press Enter. It’ll confirm, click on I’ll be careful, I promise! button.

2. Now type animate in the Filter box and look for following integer key:
browser.fullscreen.animateUp
3. The entry "browser.fullscreen.animateUp" would be set to 1. Double-click on it and change its value to 0
4. Now whenever you go into full screen mode, you'll not see the animation.

This key also exists (and works the same way) in Firefox 3.6.10.

I've followed a few of your tips in order to speed up my computer, thank you! More advice in this direction would be appreciated, e.g. removing, in Windows, any sort of animation (drop-down menus, window-resize, ..), unnecessary sounds, etcetc.

Hey,
This is a great tip, especially for those of us surfing on a netbook! Full screen mode really helps for small screens and getting rid of that animation makes life much much faster on little netbook processors!
Thanks a lot for the description!
