How to Delete Your GMail Account Permanently?

Do you want to delete your exiting GMail account? Do you have some unused GMail IDs which you no longer use and want to get rid of them? Do you get lots of spam mails in your GMail account and want to delete it permanently?

I’m sure there are many ppl who face such problems and want to completely remove their GMail IDs for obvious reasons. If you are one of those, then do you know you can do it. Yes. You heard it right. Google provides a way to delete your GMail account. Just follow these steps:

1. Open following link:

Delete GMail Account

2. Enter your username and password and it’ll show following page:

3. Click on the checkbox and enter another e-mail address which you want to use to log into your Google account to access other Google services.

4. Enter your password and click on “Remove Gmail” button and your GMail account will be deleted within 2 business days.

Once your GMail account is deleted, you’ll not be able to re-activate it or to retrieve messages.

Unfortunately they don’t delete your mails. This is according to their policy, like you have some confidential mails and you no longer want to keep the mails and the account, once you delete them the mails will be on their server and if any government asks for the mails they will pass them through.

I created my Orkut a/c wid my Y! email but now i not using Y! anymore n swithed to Gmail, now d prob. is i m not able to change d primary email add in my orkut a/c coz wen i try to do so it creates another Orkut a/c for my Gmail ID.

^^ No. You can’t change the primary login ID in Orkut. You’ll need to create new one. If you want to change the email ID which your Orkut friend see, then you can change it from Orkut Settings but your Login ID can’t be changed.

this is geetu, actually i have created an gmail account long back, but i had forgotten the password of that gmail account what i had created, i came to know from many of my friends that some one else is misusing my gmail ID(i.e sending mails on behalf of me). i just came to knew abt this in the last few weeks, but i am helpless, becoz i have forgotten the password, & i think the stranger who is using my gmail ID has changed the password.

^^ If you remember answer of secret question which you filled while creating the GMail account, then you can recover the password using “Forgot password” link. Otherwise its almost impossible to get the account back or to delete it.

my friend is complaining that some one logined in his orkut account and also had changed the password now… how can he restore his account …. so that the culprit should not misuse it…

^^ If he has not changed the security question, then you can reset the password using “Forgot password” link. Otherwise report that Orkut account and ask your friends to report it. As much as people report it, you’ll have higher chances that Orkut will remove the account.
