Creating Your Own Custom Orkut Themes:

If you want to create your own themes for Orkut, then follow these instructions:

1. You must be using Mozilla Firefox for this method. If you are not using, then download it from here and install it.

2. Now you'll need to install "Greasemonkey" extension.

3. Now open following URL in firefox:

Make your own Orkut Theme (Link is dead)

4. It'll show a page containing a text box to enter image URL and a "Submit" button.

5. Enter the complete URL of image which you want to set as background in your Orkut profile. If you want to use a wallpaper stored on your machine, then upload the image on any image uploading website like imageshack.us and then obtain the Direct URL of image and paste it in the image link text box at the above link.

6. Now click on "Submit" button. The site will load next page containing a link "Install Theme":

8. If you want to go back to default Orkut theme, right-click on "Greasemonkey" icon in Firefox statusbar and uncheck "-ORKUT- theme NBfun.net" option.

You can also left-click on "Greasemonkey" icon in statusbar and it'll disable it or you can completely uninstall "Greasemonkey" extension from "Tools -> Add-ons" option in Firefox.

NOTE: This tutorial can only use a custom background in your Orkut profile. Also the wallpaper will only be visible to you. Your friends will still see default Orkut theme when they'll visit your profile page.

^^ The link is dead. Most probably the owner has pulled off the site.

  • the one problem I'm facing it that,
I want to change my Orkut profile's photo, but it doesn't show that 'frame'
( as you know that its supposed to ask me locate the photo- but after
    that it doesn't
load the frame to crop the image and then successfullly update the
    profile image)

I tried with disabling the no-script, ad-block etc but still no result, I guess
something wrong in Firefox- same problem with many sites. even if you
    disable everything like noscript, adblockplus
etc it yet won't show the image cropping frame. (yes even after
disabling the pop-up and enabling java, and having latest java runtime etc)
same goes for manythings in myspace sometimes

    .

I use up-to-date Kaspersky - and my computer is completely virus and
    malware free.

I searched the google already but they don't specifically solve the
problem- they just say click on change profile photo and it should
    work :(

please write an article to solve this glitch

^^ Did you try any other browser? I think it should work in IE. Try to clear cookies, cache of Firefox and also reinstall it.

  • Its absolutely useless.. If everyone who visits my profile see the classic orkut theme, then what is the use of creating a theme like this.. just for me to see ? its absolutely stupid concept...
