Be careful guys. There is a big difference between a Boot Screen (the first one you see when any Windows starts booting,) ans a Logon Screen (the one that Windows stops at giving you the choice of which user you are (and therefore the setup of your machine once it is running, the folders and files you can access, your broadband or cable logon, your permissions on the files you can access etc.)

1. The default boot screen is located in the very sensitive ntoskrnl.exe file. If you want to change that boot screen you either have to make a change the kernel (core) of Windows, or find another way such as using TuneUp utilities whichmakes a change to the boot.ini (I think)file so that a new screen can be used. Even so, there are strict limitations on what can be done at that level, and the screens you use MUST be exacctly adapted to the slot that is reserved in the kernel for that image. You need Photoshop and an add-on mask. Not easy. Make a god..m backup of the file before you change it. be sure you can dual boot or have an alternative boot system available ( like the old roadrunner) in case it screws up.

2.The default logon screen is in logonui.exe. Much easier but still subject to "where the hell do I put my name and password", if it goes wrong.

FoxFlameMusic needs to very careful about the words he uses. He could easily drop folks in the brown stuff.

Unless you know how to make a disk image of your existing system, or maybe you don't care if you have to re-install, then don't mess with those two files. Read more, a lot more, and not just here.
