^^ Have you run WFP patcher? You can also use Replacer to replace the file. Both can be found in our "Downloads" section.

I followed ur instructions up to step 11.
After I opened system properties cpl, the default windows one showed.
I then opened it in the Hacker again and it was as the windows original one. I then checked for and didn't find a sysdm_original file.

So did it again, and this time saved a copy to desktop. When I opened that one, I got error msg:
"An error occured while Windows was working with the control panel file" and then lists the location of the file.

Any suggestions?
I"m on Win xp pro.

Hey VG,

I followed all your steps and copy/pasted your txt file as my new sysdm.cpl file and when i compile and save and close the Hacker Resourse the system properties are changed/updated for a little while and when i go to recheck the system properties after a few seconds it has returned to it originla boring self. :(

Then when i try to reopen the file to edit in Hacker Resource and click on Dialog 101 to rededit it says "This file has non-standard resource layout... it has probably been compressed with an "EXE compressor"

Can you help?
Zak

I fell in love with the lady in the black dress on sight. However, she has not been the kind to hang around.

I didn't want the "new" System Properties dialogue box. I tried to improvise your instructions to place her on my smaller XP Sys Properties box—and I was successful.

Successful only in xp32, that is. For my xp64, the lady is gone as soon as I have her in the door. So I made sure there were no excess files, and I used WinXP Manager to allow the replacement of system files in x64. What really confuses me is that I had no trouble with x32, so you'd think I could troubleshoot my way through xp64.

Would you be so kind as to explain the procedure to JUST replace the computer icon with the lady on an "old"-style XP System Properties box? Maybe I missed something, and was just plain lucky that it worked in x32.

After all, it's not like I really have a clue what I'm doing.

But I liked her. I thought she was my type. I didn't even have a chance to tell her she could leave her dress at the door. Too bad. So sad.

Thank you for introducing us.
