UPDATE: The developer has removed the application. We'll post an update as soon as he puts it back to download.
As you might be aware of the recently leaked screenshots of Windows 7 M3 build which shows how the Ribbon UI has been implemented in Wordpad and MSPaint applications. Now you can get the similar Ribbon UI Wordpad in Windows XP and Vista.
"Solo-Dev" aka "Villain" has released an updated version of Windows default Notepad which includes Ribbon UI:

This is what the developer has to say:
This is a Windows 7 inspired Ribbon UI Notepad. Yeah, i want to beat Microsoft to the punch.
After having seen screen shots for the Windows 7 build of Paint, i got Inspired. Anyway, Itss done in C#.net and VB.net. Seeing as how this is one of my first C# apps, a notepad type editor is a good beginning app.
Anyway, It has only Notepad type functionality now, i would like to get it up to WordPad (advanced txt and rtf) functionality soon.
YES, it uses up RAM, because of how it does MDI and such, I am working on making the requirements much less.
Its really a must try app and it gives a Windows 7 Wordpad feeling for sure. If you face any problem while running it, then make sure you have installed Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5.
Its a portable application. Download the ZIP file, extract it and run the EXE file.

We recommend!

nice app..!!
few issues needing improvement though..
why are the cut & copy buttons so small than the paste one ?
upon pressing the save button in an already saved file, it opens a dialog box & asks to replace the existing file instead of doing a 'silent' save ala notepad/wordpad/word...

By the way I prefer Metapad. It's really fast like Notepad and has many extra features.
