I am currently using Norton AntiVirus 2011. Honestly, Norton AntiVirus has many problems. Sometimes program updates cause some components to fail. Although all problems are fixable, it takes time to solve the problems.

Used NAV two years back but found it heavy on system and even sometimes it was incapable in fighting with virus.. don't know how 2012 works but I am done with Norton
Currently using Avast Internet Security 6 and its fast in virus detection and its really lite on system...(Its so lite that sometimes u will forget that u have installed antivirus on ur system...)
I've Windows 7 Prof and dule core processor on my board

How much of memory your Avast Internet Security 6 takes?? My Norton Internet Security 2011 takes 11,200kb of memory in my Windows 7 x64 machine, i used Avast too before but it messed up my chat room, i don't know how but it caused a 20min delay for that i saw my own sent message on the screen, i don't know why it did it or how it did it, but that day i changed my AIS away maybe permanently...

Never had problem while chatting, surfing or downloading...
