Microsoft's new OS Windows 8 comes with a brand new Store program which allows you to download free as well as paid apps from Internet. Its quite similar to Google Play program which you find in Android mobile phones.

Windows 8 also comes with Windows Live ID integration feature which allows you to use your Windows Live email ID (aka Microsoft account) to log into Windows and to sync your settings and files to Microsoft servers which might become very useful if you use more than one computer. You can sign into another Windows 8 computer using same email ID and it'll automatically bring all your personalized settings to the new computer system.

  • Wow!...a nice tool.
thank u VG and happy valentine day

  • Theres an easier fix for the windows apps. I had the error issue when trying to install windows apps. A simple fix for it I found was to go to file explorer, then look in C:\windows\ and look for the AUinstallAgent folder. If it's missing, which mine was, create it. When you create it....the problem is fixed!! After doing this on my machine there were no more problems installing apps or updating them from the windows store.

I tried the troubleshooter first to no avail. When I created that folder in the windows directory it was fixed.

    Hope this helps.

  • Hi Vishal, my metro apps are not opening and asking to go to stores I have tried every method I found here on microsoft "", I started hating this window really.

  • Hey there VG. The tools you shared works. It's a lifesaver. =)

  • VG, I have tried all of the suggested remedies including changing my resolution, but nothing makes one whit of a difference.

I have been running Windows 8 since it first came out as an installable disc. Metro has never worked and neither has "Store".

At the risk of losing all of the programs on my desktop, I have even gone to the trouble of reinstalling, but even that does not work beyond rebooting the system. Due to program files used, I must reboot before I can access my data.

I would like to install the newer version of Windows, but can't because "Store" says that I don't have an internet connection, when I know that I have a broadband connection. I have just updated my Nvidia drivers and am running at 1440 x 900 in 32 bit. I have tried running at a lower screen resolution, again, no result.

I have checked Norton 360 to see if there is anything that may be impacting on the the program(s) but cannot find anything.

^^ Its absolutely ok to install multiple operating systems in one computer system. Only one OS runs at a time so no performance issues. Make sure to install old OS first and then new OS. Also install all OS in separate partitions.

  • Hello1

I ran this program (Windows Store App Troubleshooter), which an IT friend referred me to. It said that it found and corrected an error, but I still can't open the store app (error message states: "We weren't able to connect to the store. This might have happened because of a server problem or the network connection timed out. Please wait a few minutes and try again (0x80072ee2)"
I bought this laptop new in December 2013, and it worked fine until approximately April, when I first had a similar issue with the pre-installed Netflix app. Then I noticed this Store App error. I have tried four fixes I have found when googling it, plus this one, and none of them have worked. Any other ideas as to what I can try?

^^ First make sure you are not using any Proxy settings in Internet Explorer Options. Also try to temporary disable Firewall if you are using.

  • metro apps opened and wouldn't connect to the internet, and said there was a proxy problem. called for help and was told i had a proxy setting issue and said it was due to my network connection being infected...this is from the administrator help where they tried to sell me something. after adding Norton internet explorer cannot be located. there is iexplore, speed browser, and the internet explorer icon followed by a long number. again opening any tile on the start menu goes directly to the desktop, then proceeds to open it....I have the hp Celeron with the intel processor, windows 8.1
