Lots of Windows 7 users are facing this weird issue. If you switch between Windows Aero and Windows Basic themes several times, one point comes when you might not be able to switch to Windows Aero theme permanently. No "Please Wait" box is displayed and your display remains in Windows Basic theme.

Microsoft has confirmed this issue and provided a workaround to this problem. A proper hotfix will be released once the root cause of the problem is investigated.
Problem Symptom:
Consider the scenario where you decide to change personalization settings for your display in Windows 7 and you do so several times between the Windows 7 Basic and Windows 7 Aero themes. After several iterations between those two themes, your display may no longer change and the "Please Wait" dialog box will no longer be displayed while a change is processing. Your display personalization will remain in the Basic theme.
Problem Cause:
The root cause of this issue is under investigation.
Problem Solution:
You can workaround this issue by selecting the Windows Classic or any of the High Contrast themes, then waiting for the "Please Wait" dialog box and processing to finish, and then select the Aero theme of your preference.

Dang, there sure are quite a bit of bugs been coming out for Windows 7. Well at least MS is doing something about it with the SP1 and hotfixes plus not as many as were present in Vista =D

I wonder why this version of Windows is quite buggy? I'm aware that Windows 7 is much better than any previous version of Windows but are they (Microsoft) in a rush while developing it just to kick Vista aside? Personally, I think that Windows 7 is just a major fix to Vista rather than a brand new operating system!

This fix does not work for me. This is what I get when I try to troubleshoot it, "To allow Aero effects to be displayed, close any programs that use mirror drivers (a type of display driver), such as Windows Remote Assistance and Windows Live Mesh." Would the program from LogMeIn.com contain one of these drivers? If so, where do I remove it, or do I have to remove the entire LogMeIn program?

LogMeIn changes the theme to Basic automatically, after you finish remote controlling your PC, then it automatically reverts back to Aero theme.
