If you are using Windows 7 but miss the good old blue "Luna" theme of XP, here is something interesting for you.

"Satukoro" @ DA has successfully ported Windows XP "Luna" theme to Windows 7 and it looks like following under Windows 7:

As you can see it looks great and provides same XP feeling in Windows 7.

  • VG, Can you please Update the Start button to look like XP?

  • Hey,

I tried installing this exact theme and it keeps switch theme to Win7 BASIC theme not XP Luna...pretty much...it doesn't recognize it. I have the actual release copy of Win7......I NEED HELP!!!......
Is there a step by step process on how to install this properly?

    Please respond ASAP!!!!

    Thank you

  • W7 is always touting itself as fancy graphics, but there was a lot you could do with XP just by changing windows colours etc - and the desktop graphic is always what you choose it to be

Here are my main gripes about vista/7

    1. The start menu - which dickhead in microsoft decided that an "all programs" option restricted to a tiny box would be better than one which expands?

The site "www.vistastartmenu.com" contains a 3rd party product which is what microsoft SHOULD have designed - brilliantly versatile.

    2. Windows Explorer/Internet explorer - this has several gripes

2.1 In 7, there appears to be an area at the top that is totally wasted - not even a title

2.2 The file-edit -view etc menu is hidden by default, and yet that was ALWAYS the most useful
menu when you're new to any program, and if you're on the phone explaining to users. I had
to find it by using windows accelerator keys (ALT-F).

2.3 The folders view in the LHS pane is difficult to find, and the option to track your browsing in the
RHS pane is disabled by default. What muppet thought that was more user friendly? Having your
    two panes out of sync?

2.4 The "up one folder" link - can't seem to find it. Can use the back button, but I might conceivably have not visited the parent dir before then

2.5 the position of the taskbars isn't as versatile - in XP I could put them wherever I liked, in vista I'm stuck with the same bar at the top, beneath the wasted space

2.6 The new folder graphics look scruffy and I prefer the old + and - signs to those arrows. Microsoft seems to have been trying to look like the ugliest part of the apple mac folder.

    3. The new taskbar - doesn't seem to be as neatly divided as the old one (quick launch, taskbar icons, system tray), Rather, it looks like a load of stuff was just tossed randomly on the bar.

    4. Overall, vista/7 seems to fit stuff on the screen a lot less efficiently.

There have been some useful new features - e.g. search box - but so many have been forced upon us. No wonder people are going to Ubuntu. in droves.

  • does this work for vista? can u make a xp theme for vista?
