Recently released Windows 8 Consumer Preview (Public Beta) build features a new boot screen which shows the good old "Betta fish" along with a circle animation.
Now Windows XP users can also enjoy a similar boot screen. Our friend and AskVG's DA group member "PeterRollar" has created Windows 8 look-like boot screen for Windows XP users.

Please note that the above screenshot has been taken from actual Windows 8 Consumer Preview build. The boot screen which you'll get in Windows XP with the help of this article will have some lower quality graphics due to limitations of Windows XP.
This boot screen pack comes with 2 screens actually. The 1st screen is the boot screen which you'll get in XP and the 2nd screen is shown between boot screen and login screen. Generally you see a black background which will be replaced by 2nd screen if you use following steps:
First download boot screen pack using following link:
After downloading RAR file, extract it using WinRAR or 7-Zip. Now apply boot screen's .tbs file using "Tuneup Utilities".
To use the 2nd screen shown in above screenshot, copy "startup.bmp" file present in "Windows8Startup" folder to "C:\Windows" folder and run "activate.reg" file. It'll set the 2nd screen before login screen.

@Semtex: I was asking the same until I read "betta fish" again and found the riddle. See the fish name? Think of the name for the actual development state of Windows 8. Got it? Tip: It's after alpha...
