Today we are going to tell you, how to get Windows 7 login screen working in Vista. Windows 7 uses a new blue login screen which looks excellent:

Now you can get the same login screen in Windows Vista.
"pugalenthi" has created a login screen for Windows Vista which looks exact same as Windows 7 login screen.
Download the login screen from following link:

Now extract the RAR file using WinRAR or 7-zip. First you'll need to install "Stardock LogonStudio for Vista" to apply the login screen. Its FREE and included in the RAR file.
After installing LogonStudio, double-click on the "Windows7.logonvista" file present in "LogonVista File" folder. It'll open LogonStudio, Apply the login screen and you have done.
If you also want to change the branding text ""Windows Vista Ultimate" (or other) to "Windows 7 Ultimate", then you'll also need to replace existing "basebrd.dll" file present in "%windir%\branding\basebrd\" folder with new file present in "Dll File" folder in the downloaded RAR file.
First take permission of "basebrd.dll" file present in "%windir%\branding\basebrd\" folder using following tutorial:
Add Take Ownership Option in File / Folder Context Menu in Windows Vista
Now replace the file with the new one present in the downloaded RAR file. Restart your system to take affect.

Hi Vishal. Where exactly would i find the basebrd.dll file?
VG
^^ In "%windir%\branding\basebrd\" folder. Here %windir% means Windows folder present in system drive where Windows Vista is installed.

Hi Vishal. How can I apply this login screen to Windows Server 2008? I replaced bitmaps in imageres.dll, but login screen is still flat.
VG
^^ Sorry but it has not been tested on Server 2008 so can't help much.

I've found the solution - to make Server 2008 use resources from imageres.dll you should replace authui.dll in Server with Vista RTM (6000, w/o SP) one, then background will appear on login screen. But it works only on x86 version. And they say it doesn't work for SP2
