Recently we shared Windows 7 Login screen and Shellstyle for Windows XP:

Now its turn of "Boot Screen". Windows 7 contains a new boot screen which shows "Starting Windows..." text along with a glassy progressbar in the middle.

I have tried to create a similar boot screen "VistaVG Boot Screen" for Windows XP.

It looks similar to Windows 7 boot screen. You can download it from following link:

Extract the ZIP file and you'll get following 2 files:

  • NToskrnl.exe
  • VistaVG Seven Boot Screen.tbs

You can use any of the 2 files to enjoy the new boot screen.

If you want to use "NToskrnl.exe" file, then you'll need to replace existing "NToskrnl.exe" file present in "%windir%\System32" folder with this new one. You can use "Replacer" to replace the files which you can find in our "Downloads" section.

Or if you want to use the second file "VistaVG Seven Boot Screen.tbs", then you'll need Tuneup Utilities to apply it which is very safe.

UPDATE: Windows Vista users can also enjoy the new Windows 7 boot screen. Visit this link.

Have you guys disabled WFP service using WFP Patcher?

  • Nope. What Is It?

  • Yup, I have disabled WFP service using WFP Patcher then replace ur version of Ntoskrnl with the original using replacer there was no error while performing these steps. But while booting-up original screen is there. And remember that other customizations are working alongside, that means WFP is disabled or not effecting the customizations.

I m not able to understand the cause of the problem, I even tried this patch on SP2 and there also it is not working.

  • Not Working After WFP Patcher.

    Btw Here Is AMD Dual-Core.

Is It Cause The Problem? Its Using Another Kernel???

  • Nope dude just run winxp in safemode and it will boot up with no bootscreen.
and replace it with a backup.
and i can be becuse u ar using a 64 bit

  • Yaar. I Already Try In Safe Mode But Just Restarted Or Crashed. I Try All The Possible Process Man. And Stupid XP Recovery Console Say Access Denied In Many Folder. Any Good Recovery Software?

  • Vishal,

I appreciate you creating and sharing this boot screen, but it does NOT work with XP SP3 as everybody here has already confirmed.

When using Replacer, WFP always restores the original ntoskrnl.exe upon reboot (something that I thought Replacer was to get around).

Safe Mode doesn't work for replacing file manually.

The WFP Switcher program that you link to does not work with SP3. I searched all over the place and it looks like WFP has to be manually disabled because nobody has created a program yet for SP3.

^^ I have checked it with several XP SP3 systems and didnt face any problem yet.
