As we all know that Windows 7 beta contains a new animated boot screen which shows animated items/balls that come together to form Windows logo.

If you want to enjoy the same boot screen in Windows XP or Vista, then here is a good news for you. "killer7ben" and "TSR-Pr" have created boot screens for Windows XP and Vista which look very similar to Windows 7 boot screen.

You can download the boot screens using following links:

You'll need "Tuneup Utilities" to apply these boot screens.

NOTE: The above boot screens are not animated.

  • Hello All...

I have tried a different version of the Boot Screen (a ntoskrnl.exe version) and when I replace it with the original boot screen, a windows update file manager thing (name escapes me at the moment, sorry) always changes it back to the original... Sorry to be very vauge but if somebody knows what I am talking about or has the same problem, could you please respond to this? If not, please ignore...

Also, If I use the trial version of TuneUp Utilites and use TSR-Pr's boot screen (great job by the way!), when the trial version expires, will the bootscreen stay se7en-ish? Or will it revert? It shouldn't, right? Sorry if this is n00bish...

    Thank you,

    ThunderBird

  • How do I change the background of the 7 boot screen with reshacker? Does anyone have a list of files that can hacked using reshacker in Windows 7?
    John

  • i cant open it..
but i have tune up utilities

  • You can download my boot screen, it have the full logo of Windows 7, the Vista loading bar and Microsoft Corporation at the bottom. It is a ntoskrnl.exe but it only works for XP SP3 in Spanish, you can extract the corresponding BMP's via ResHacker and replace those.
You can test it adding this line (taking you rename the file to ntosboot.exe) in boot.ini in Root C:

    multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows 7" /NOEXECUTE=OPTIN /FASTDETECT /KERNEL=NTOSBOOT.EXE

    2.41MB

This also works on ntkrnlpa.exe (which is the boot file for dual core systems, you need to replace all BMP's to make it 7-like)

    Enjoy!

  • Note: Be sure to add the file 'ntosboot.exe' to C:\Windows\System32 directory.
