UPDATE: A new version 2.5 has been released which includes updated Stylish code to fix large bookmarks bar. So download the updated version.
Recently we posted about Mozilla Firefox 3.7 which is under development and it has been announced that Firefox 3.7 will support Aero Glass and will have a new interface. You can read more about it at following link:
Mozilla Firefox 3.7 Will Support Aero Glass Under Windows Vista & 7
Although the screenshots given in the above topic are only mockups and not the actual ones but they look awesome. Lots of people asked for a theme which can provide the same look in the existing versions of Firefox browser.
Now we are very pleased to share such a theme for Mozilla Firefox 3.0 and later versions. "BoneyardBrew" along with "SoapyHamHocks" @ DeviantART has created a new theme which provides almost same interface as shown in the 3.7 mockups. Following is a screenshot of this theme:
If you want the same look in your Firefox 3.0 or later, follow these simple steps:
STEP 1: First download the theme using following link:
Download Mozilla Firefox 3.7 Theme
Its a ZIP file. Extract it using WinRAR or 7-Zip (both can be found in our "Downloads" section). You'll get a .ZAR file which contains the actual theme. Drag-n-drop this file to "Add-ons" window in Firefox and it'll install the theme.
STEP 2: You'll also need to install the "All Glass Firefox" add-on to get the Glass effect which can be found here.
STEP 3: If you also want to get the "Tools" button near "Searchbox" as shown in the screenshot, install "Personal Menu" add-on using following link:
It'll add the "Tools" button near searchbox. Now right-click on empty area near addressbar or searchbox and select "Customize" option. Now drag "Bookmarks" button between searchbox and Tools button.
Now go to "Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions" menu and select "Personal Menu" from the list. Click on "Options" button and go to "Advanced" Tab. Enable "Hide Drop-Marker" option. Also enable "Hide Menus Toolbar" and "Show temporarily by pressing ALT key" options to hide menubar.
STEP 4: If you face problem while reading text on inactive tabs, you'll need to apply the code given in "newtabfix.txt" present in the downloaded ZIP file using "Stylish" add-on.
Once installed, copy the code from TXT file, click on the "Stylish" icon present in Statusbar and select "Write new style -> Blank style" option. Now paste the code in text area. Provide a suitable name to the style and click on "Save" button. That's it.
After following these steps, you'll enjoy the same interface in your favorite browser.

whats the difference between "all glass firefox" theme and this?

Moroi, not sure if this will help you but I had this same problem because I had a program called WindowBlinds (Made by Stardock) installed. Once I disabled skinning for Firefox inside the Windowblinds control panel the black background went away.

I really do like this theme... I just don't know why though, I just like it.
@Addy,
Yes this will work on XP, I'm using it with XP. But you won't be able to get the transparency and use the "All Glass Firefox" add-on since XP doesn't support Windows Aero. It's still a nice theme though

Excellent! Works perfectly! It may even be better than what we'll see in Firefox 3.7, since there is full customization of the Toolbar menu, autohide of the menubar, and the ability to move the icons anywhere on the toolbar (which may not be the case with official 3.7). Great job for those responsible.
Some have asked about the glass effect disappearing when the window is maximized. That is the case with all windows that have the glass effect, including Internet Explorer. The maximized windows still looks good with this theme though.
Overall 5/5!

I want to know how to install it

I have installed Win7 recently. I'm a Minefield (Firefox 3.6a1pre) fan, but this time I decided to try Shiretoko (Firefox 3.5.3pre). It was all OK with the theme and the other components installation and using, not a single problem, I liked the theme very much! But when I decided to go back to Minefield (Gecko 1.9.2a1pre engine is so much better than 1.9.1 that Firefox 3.5.* uses), it all just wrecked... Now I have same problem that Mark has (I could publish screenshot, but there's no point - it would be almost identical to yours, Mark). I guess that the theme just can't work with Minefield.
Please, make the theme compatible with Gecko 1.9.2a1pre / Firefox 3.6a1pre!!! I just can't live without this theme, and I will never go back to Firefox 3.5.* - I'd rather install SeaMonkey (yes, I know, it's a disgusting-looking browser, though kinda much more _professional_ than Firefox and version 2.1a1pre uses Gecko 1.9.2a1pre...) *lol*

I was having the same issue with the tab bar having a black background and found it was linked to the pixlr.com extension for me.
