UPDATE: A new version 2.5 has been released which includes updated Stylish code to fix large bookmarks bar. So download the updated version.

Recently we posted about Mozilla Firefox 3.7 which is under development and it has been announced that Firefox 3.7 will support Aero Glass and will have a new interface. You can read more about it at following link:

Mozilla Firefox 3.7 Will Support Aero Glass Under Windows Vista & 7

Although the screenshots given in the above topic are only mockups and not the actual ones but they look awesome. Lots of people asked for a theme which can provide the same look in the existing versions of Firefox browser.

Now we are very pleased to share such a theme for Mozilla Firefox 3.0 and later versions. "BoneyardBrew" along with "SoapyHamHocks" @ DeviantART has created a new theme which provides almost same interface as shown in the 3.7 mockups. Following is a screenshot of this theme:

If you want the same look in your Firefox 3.0 or later, follow these simple steps:

STEP 1: First download the theme using following link:

Download Mozilla Firefox 3.7 Theme

Its a ZIP file. Extract it using WinRAR or 7-Zip (both can be found in our "Downloads" section). You'll get a .ZAR file which contains the actual theme. Drag-n-drop this file to "Add-ons" window in Firefox and it'll install the theme.

STEP 2: You'll also need to install the "All Glass Firefox" add-on to get the Glass effect which can be found here.

STEP 3: If you also want to get the "Tools" button near "Searchbox" as shown in the screenshot, install "Personal Menu" add-on using following link:

Install Personal Menu

It'll add the "Tools" button near searchbox. Now right-click on empty area near addressbar or searchbox and select "Customize" option. Now drag "Bookmarks" button between searchbox and Tools button.

Now go to "Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions" menu and select "Personal Menu" from the list. Click on "Options" button and go to "Advanced" Tab. Enable "Hide Drop-Marker" option. Also enable "Hide Menus Toolbar" and "Show temporarily by pressing ALT key" options to hide menubar.

STEP 4: If you face problem while reading text on inactive tabs, you'll need to apply the code given in "newtabfix.txt" present in the downloaded ZIP file using "Stylish" add-on.

Install Stylish

Once installed, copy the code from TXT file, click on the "Stylish" icon present in Statusbar and select "Write new style -> Blank style" option. Now paste the code in text area. Provide a suitable name to the style and click on "Save" button. That's it.

After following these steps, you'll enjoy the same interface in your favorite browser.

  • I love this theme. Light and Airy look.

  • Step 4 doesnt work, tools isnt in the customize toolbars dialog box and i cant find the "txt" required in step 5 either. I'm using firefox 3.5.1

  • -edit- duh i found the text for step 5 but step 4 still doesnt work

  • Personal Menu is removing the effect of Hide Menubar..
    what to do?

  • I wish there's a basic style skin too..
I like basic than aero which is im bored w/ that transparency :)
anyways, thanks for the guide and links..

  • For step 4 you need to have the view/customize box open, and then it will let you drag any toolbar icon where ever you want, it does work if you do it this way.

  • howdy vg. nice theme but how come i get a flat box back button instead

of a round like the one in the preview? hmm..

and where cud i find the tools to be dragged. it work well wid me. ^^

  • To get the big round back button you need to have your icons NOT set to small. If you click "view" "toolbars" "customize" there is a check box to use small icons. Make sure that is not checked. Before clicking "done" this is where you locate, drag and drop, toolbar icons to where you want them on the toolbar.

  • Does this work in XP?

  • Click on "view" "toolbars" "customize" and make sure the check box to use small icons is NOT checked. Before clicking "done" this is where you find the icons you want to use on your toolbar, so scroll to find the ones you want, and you can drag and drop them where you want them on the toolbar.
