Recently we posted about 5 new updates coming for Windows 7 Beta (Build 7000). These updates were scheduled for 24 February 2009 and now Microsoft has released the updates.
Remember these updates will not install automatically and you'll need to manually install them. Go to Control Panel -> Windows Update and then select the updates and install them.
NOTE: No. of available updates might differ for different systems.

Anyone know what it does? Updated a while ago though, just wondered if anyone else knew

I think you will find that those five extra updates do now come through the normal channels of windows update. They just came through on windows update for me and I tried the way you said but there were no updates there and I remember seeing the ones you have described above. Cheers!

iirc it dosent do anything. They just replace system files with the same file to test something.

i've to downloaded and installed those updates on the day they'll available via windows updates, today one more update is available, but it is for windows defender, it is of 2mb....mostly defender's updates are of few Kb's. i think that have some important signatures in it....
