It depends upon the user. You should give both of them a try and then decide which one suites you better. IMO both are great.

I tried Avast, AVG and MSE but they just didnt cut it with what I wanted and expected. I ended up buying Vipre! Its very much a case of to each their own and you should try out various AntiVirus programs until you find what you are happy with.
For example, when I bought Vipre, I bought a 3 PC license but neither my wife or my son will be budged from Avast.

I have used Norton Internet Security 2011 and i can say it's the best antivirus available, and i prefer BitDefender too.

I like avast best it has load of features and shields for everything. You can get avast internet security for free valid till april 2012- use a German proxy like 3proxy.de and go to my-avast.de/aktion/AVAST/down/ty/index.php
