Recently we posted a simple script to toggle "Hide extensions for known file types" option in Windows:
Create Simple Script to Show / Hide File Extensions in Windows XP, Vista and 7
And now we'll tell you how to add an option "Show / Hide File Extensions" in Desktop and Explorer context menu (menu which appears when you right-click) to make the task faster and easier.

In Windows XP, you'll need to right-click on a folder to get the option. In Windows Vista and 7, you can right-click on an empty area in Explorer or Desktop to get the option.
HOW-TO:
Simply download following ZIP file, extract it and run the "Install.exe" file present in the "Windows XP" or "Windows Vista and 7" folders depending upon which Windows are you using.
It'll automatically install the required files and will ask you to add the option into Windows Registry, accept the confirmation by clicking on "Yes" button and then OK.

Vishal, I used to like this site because you gave tips and tricks to do such mods on our own.. But of late, its always scripts and third party applications. Why not something we can do manually?? That is what I want to do, not run some third party applications...

^^ Its manual mate. We are not using any 3rd party utility here. The script is just a simple VB coding and we are using registry script to add the option in context menu.

You want us to use an exe file to do the stuff here.. I want you to give us the registry tweaks or system hacks to do it on our own, like before.. Remember the time when you wrote your resource Hacker tutorials? I followed you from the digit forum to here because of that.. Loved it the way you showed us how to do all that on our own... Please do that again...
