"7 Sidebar" is an excellent gadget for Windows 7 sidebar. It puts a Vista like glassy background to sidebar and also sets it to "Always on Top".

You can also tweak various settings. Just right-click on the empty area of sidebar and select "Settings" option. It'll open 7 Sidebar's Settings window:

Here you can set various settings like:
- Sidebar orientation: Left or Right
- Enable/disable Always on top option
- Enable/disable Auto-hide option
- Change sidebar background
You just need to download and install the gadget. You can download it using following link:

Thanks.
Windows 7 gadgets are a huge improvement over Vista's sidebar, both in performance and appearance.
I don't find any reason to retrofit my Windows 7 x64 Pro OS with a clunky, unsightly desktop artifact.

I really don't like the Gadgets style/pattern on Windows 7. (At first, I think it's pretty and cool)
I wanna to put the gadgets always on top, but it's really strange that the clock are on the top of the application, Windows Explorer, and so on. I want a sidebar at side (instead of only the gadgets) and put the gadgets on it just like Windows Vista's Sidebar.
With this 7 Sidebar, I can get the Vista's Sidebar back!
It leave a blank (vertically of course) at side, so that the gadgets won't block the program's screen. Yes, I know I can set the transparency (show if mouse over), however they (gadgets) still block the program. I also don't want to move the gadget(s) every time I need.
In conclusion, Windows 7's users should try this and you will like it!
It's very beautiful, glassy, good background, cool Window-Manager.

Is Windows Sidebar heavy on the system?
VG
^^ Not much. Its just a normal background service.

I tried this gadget. It is really a wonderful gadget. Now I have a Windows Vista look-like Sidebar in Windows 7. But there is something strange...
Why Microsoft had hidden the taskbar icon of Windows Sidebar in Windows 7?

@Uewd
For showing the icon in taskbar:
Open the 7 Sidebar.
Right click on it and select Settings.
Then you will see the Settings window (2nd picture posted).
In the Orientation section, tick the "Show icon in taskbar".
Click Close button.
That's all.
Ya, I also wonder why they just hide the taskbar icon. At least put a option (tick box) at the "Add Gadgets" window.

The gadget called Clipboarder is perfect! Just try it!
