Ok... but the problem here (not realy a problem... just... another Vista bug?) is the fact we want to see this kind of files but not in de desktop. Like it was in XP... in XP you only will see this files in desktop if you go to desktop by explorer. In the desktop as "desktop" it dont appear in XP

and another problem i had (after deleting the desktop.ini files didnt happen again) was my profile logging in as the system profile.

I found this fix elsewhere on the internet: Go to Folder Options (by typing "control folders" in the Start – Search box). In the "View" tab, uncheck the "Hide protected operating system files (Recommended)" and then click "Apply" and "OK." Then go back in and re-check the option and click "Apply" and "OK" again. It worked for me.

still no real solution to the problem... i read the entire thread always hopeful.

what is required is to remove the 2 icons from the desktop whil still displaying hidden and protected files in windows explorer.

making them invisible is not a solution, it just makes invisible clutter which can interfere with your work in a very annoying way.

hiding files can not be localized to the desktop, it effects the entire system.

deleting the files is only temporary because they come back.

so how do we permanently remove these from desktop view while still viewing hidden and protected files on the rest of the system?

I don't know how old this post is, but I want to point this out:

The reason why there are TWO desktop.ini files is because there are actually two files.
One from your own user desktop folder, and one from all users' desktop folder.

These two files contain information on some localized icon names (which can change displayed names of specific icons while preserving their real names, from the name data found from specific DLLs, such as shell32.dll) so they are actually useless and safe to delete. Go on and delete them.

Robert...

as you can see now, all your posts was uploaded...

read notes are good hehehe

"NOTE: If you can't see your comment, please be patient. It'll appear as soon as we approve it."

other... ok... right! delete them will take no efect to the windows funcionalitys but in my case its not only de desktop.ini... and i think all of you...

try to find a user folder under some folder of System32... then delete (move to another place if you have doubts) that desktop.ini. DONE! now you have again only one desktop.ini in your desktop...

god! i never plug my laptop to internet to show you screenshots... think this weekend will have some time...

thanks
